About Mike

Mike has been pursuing his own personal development work for over 25 years. Whilst working as an investment banker he also practised meditation and began exploring shamanism.

After a profound spiritual awakening that led him to search for deeper meaning and purpose in his life, he left the stability of this conventional life to forge a new path for himself. He decided to train as a Psychosynthesis counsellor, having been transformed through his own personal therapy process, and to explore his own sexuality more deeply in tantra workshops.

He is a qualified counsellor and a California state-approved Clinical Sexologist: Sex Coach and Sex Educator and holds several massage qualifications.  He is a former Chair of ASIS (the Association of Somatic & Integrative Sexologists), the professional body for somatic sexology, which he co-founded with a group of his peers.

His psychotherapeutic influences come from many different schools, including Psychosynthesis, Body Psychotherapy, Bio-Energetics, Babette Rothschild’s Somatic Trauma Therapy, Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing® Technique and psychosexual therapy.

Mike pioneered a new approach to sex therapy called Psychosexual Somatics®.  This approach has been taught to practitioners since 2011.

He is also on faculty at the Esalen Institute in California.  In early 2016 Mike and his team opened the UK’s first Sexual Wellness Clinic in a private hospital at Spire Southampton Hospital. He has presented Psychosexual Somatics® to the Royal Society of Medicine, the National Health Service (NHS) and to the College of Sex & Relationship Therapists (COSRT) in the UK.

Mike has undertaken a study of many spirituality disciplines and healing methods, including meditation, Tantra, Taoism, Buddhism, Shamanism and Energetic Healing.

"Your courageous pioneer spirit is a blessing for the world and deeply needed. And how you are doing it - warm-hearted, with your very clear mind and senses, and this great sense of humour"
